Privacy Policy
PitStop is built on the principle of "your data is yours": your entire vehicle history is stored locally on your device and is never sent anywhere without your explicit action.
What data the app collects
None of your vehicle data. Fuel logs, expenses, maintenance records and diagnostics live in a database on your phone and are never sent to the developer's servers. To improve the product, the app collects anonymous technical statistics about how it works (MyTracker and Yandex AppMetrica services): which screens are opened, which actions are performed, device model, OS version, language, country by IP address. Precise location (GPS) is not collected; vehicle data, trip data and personal data never make it into analytics.
The only network requests
- OBD2 diagnostics — connects directly to your ELM327 adapter over Bluetooth;
- AI error-code analysis — runs only at your explicit request and receives just the anonymized fault code itself, with no vehicle or trip data;
- Update and Pro status checks — a technical request to RuStore services;
- Early status & Pro code activation — a one-time check on the developer's server (see the "Early users" section below);
- Anonymous usage statistics — MyTracker and Yandex AppMetrica services: screens, actions, device model, country by IP address; no vehicle data and no precise location. Plus automatic crash reports (RuStore AppTracer) — technical information used to fix defects;
- Ads — shown by RuStore systems in the free version under their policies.
Early users
If you installed PitStop before Pro sales launched, you are an early user: all local Pro features are unlocked for you forever and free of charge, as a thank-you for trusting us from the very beginning.
To prevent the early status from being passed on to other people along with a backup file, the first time the app launches with internet access it contacts the developer's server once and sends an irreversible hash of the device identifier — and nothing else: no vehicle data, no records, no settings. The status is linked to at most three of your devices; moving to a new phone is done by restoring a backup. If there was no internet at the moment of the check, it will be retried on the next launch — until it completes, the app works as usual.
Backups
A backup is a file (.psbackup) that you create and store yourself: in the cloud or on any medium of your choice. The developer has no access to your backups.
The pitstop.website website
This website uses a Yandex.Metrica counter: it collects anonymized data about visits (pages viewed, traffic source, device type, country by IP address, cookies for counting sessions) — to understand how visitors use the site. Precise location is not collected. You can disable this collection by blocking cookies in your browser or by using an ad blocker.
